The Brawl Stars Tier List with New Meta Characters

The Brawl Stars Tier List in 2025 – New Meta and Improved Mechanics

Updated (October 28, 2025): The Brawl Stars roster expands, with the overall number of Brawlers to 96 by October 2025. Since the release of Jae-Yong and Lumi earlier this year, Supercell has introduced several new characters, including Mina, Trunk, and Alli. And we’ve updated our Brawl Stars Tier list:

  • Mina, introduced in the September update, has a unique Capoeira Combo attack that cycles through various ranges and is currently considered an A-Tier pick due to her high mobility and aggressive damage output.
  • Trunk, who uses a damage-over-time mechanic via ants, is placed in the situational C-Tier.
  • Alli is generally ranked D-Tier, as both new brawlers struggle to find consistent roles in the current high-trophy competitive environment.

The October 2025 S-Tier is now firmly held by hyper-aggressive Brawlers like Kit and Mortis, alongside control specialists such as Cordelius, showing a clear pivot towards high burst damage and effective crowd control.

Original Post (May 25, 2025):

Supercell’s team-based brawler called Brawl Stars only became better in 2025. Many new players have tried and enjoyed Brawl Stars. In addition, there are more than 90 Brawlers, the meta often rotates, and the lore constantly updates (update – there are 96 Brawlers with the latest fall 2025 updates). The following guide is very detailed and contains everything you need to know to rise through the ranks in Brawl Stars in 2025, whether you are a beginner or an expert. The guide includes the current Brawl Stars tier list, the last lore, the meta-content, the latest updates, and useful advice to improve your game mode with characters.

Brawl Stars remains the number one game on mobile devices. Brawl Stars stands for a mix of disorder and tactics. The sessions are short (usually less than 3 minutes), and they are filled with the fury of the battles.

Players have to control a brawler as a part of their fighting team in a co-op mode or to go solo to achieve their goals like collecting gems, scoring goals, or killing enemies. This game is the best in the genre because of the diversity of brawlers and the way the meta is always changing.

Brawl Stars received the polishing efforts in 2025 by Supercell. They introduced new Brawlers, slightly changed their skills, and gave them hypercharges (super ultimate abilities), after which they released them to the market. There are so many Brawlers in the audience in esports and the competitive scene is lively.

Nevertheless, due to the free-to-play monetization of the game and the regular content updates, the casual player base of the game is still growing. However, too many Brawlers and the various strategies make it difficult to take the first step. Through the guide and tier list, you will learn more about the game and the top character picks.

What Has Changed in Meta and Lore of Brawl Stars?

By May 2025, Brawl Stars have undergone a revolutionary transformation in the game’s story and gameplay, which has been a lot more thrilling. A story about the place Starr Park is a little bit freaky and is the connecting location for many brawlers. Revelations during the in-game events and video releases on YouTube unmask a hidden agenda that the creators of the park have: they are infusing Brawlers with the superpowers and at the same time controlling them.

Thanks to the new additions, we’ve got Jae-Yong who is a techie/special powers fighter, and Lumi who is a mysterious jester. The classic characters of the game, such as Colt and Shelly, demonstrate the negative role that the park’s creators have played, while the fun characters such as Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story are good for fun combos.

More about the Goldarm Gang (Jessie, Nita) and Mystic Travelers (Gene, Tara) factions have been revealed in the game. And they are competing against each other. Also, there are new skins and the Cyberpunk Starr Park event with colorful neon lights. The story is just a pastime, but many elements of the game such as cowboys, robots, and wizards create the palette and generate even better characters.

Updating the gameplay is simply a routine that occurs at the time of the newer versions. The gameplay, or in other words, the meta, is continuously evolving with different updates. New updates offer advanced features like special moves of brawlers – think of Kenji’s super-fast sushi attack. Also, there are no ordinary special moves, and augmented Brawlers’ survivability rates to make them capable of winning 1-vs-1 combats or simply taking better advantage of 1 vs 1.

On the one hand, the speed of Mortis has been downgraded to some extent, but on the other hand, quick Brawlers like Hank and El Primo have become stronger and unshakable. Among the recently added characters, Jae-Yong and Lumi shine in all modes since they are very effective.

The levels of the game have been so designed as Sneaky Fields favor long-range Brawlers, while with the Backyard Bowl, the character’s ultimate skills are more restricted and can only involve short-range types.

Recent Updates in Brawl Stars (As of May 2025)

Supercell has added a few changes in the latest Brawl Stars update of May 2025:

  • New Characters. Jae-Yong (a cyber-ninja with a teleporting attack) and Lumi (a support Brawler with light-based traps) have recently joined the roster (update – we’ve also got a couple of new characters, check the first paragraph).
  • Hypercharge Overhaul. 20+ Brawlers got new or tweaked hypercharges. Kenji’s is a standout, boosting his dash range by 50%.
  • Balance Changes. 40+ tweaks in April and May. Tanks like Hank got buffs, while speedsters like Mortis took nerfs.
  • Events and Skins. The Cyberpunk Starr Park event added neon skins and a new mode, Neon Rush, where Brawlers glow and deal bonus damage.
  • Map Rotations. New maps like Neon Circuit and Dusty Depot favor specific playstyles, keeping the meta dynamic.

How Did We Compile The Brawl Stars Tier List?

Our tier list for Brawl Stars, in a nutshell, is a guide that ranks the brightest Brawlers by how strong and popular they are based on the various game modes. We’ve divided them into 5 groups – S (strong), A (okay), B (weak), and C (very weak). Use of the S-tier Brawlers will help you perform better in Ranked games, while the characters from B- and C-tiers are for casual games or special maps.

The Brawl Stars tier list comes from a thorough analysis of the game, feedback from our readers and players who regularly play in Brawl Stars, as well as the content being watched. Every few months we rework this Brawl Start tier list to be in sync with the game’s updates and new Brawlers, covering all players, from novices to experts. We did the same with other tier lists, like this guide about the best Baldur’s Gate 3 characters after the release of Patch 8.

The list allows you to select the best Brawlers to rank up and play, form powerful teams, and thus secure more wins.

It is very beneficial for new players to have an account of the strong Brawlers they can use. The sharing of tips is also a very good way to make new friends.

The Ultimate Brawl Stars Tier List in 2025

Our tier list doesn’t rank all 96 Brawlers based on their performance in May 2025’s meta. We’ve considered competitive play, casual matches, and versatility in such game modes as Gem Grab, Brawl Ball, and Heist. Tiers range from S (god-tier) to C (struggling). Let’s begin!

S-Tier Characters – The Meta Kings of Brawl Stars

The following characters we’ve picked mostly dominate in every mode of Brawl Stars. These Brawlers are versatile, powerful, and hard to counter. Check the following table to understand which S-tier character suits your playstyle. They are also the best-recommended characters for Brawl Stars beginners.

Brawler Why Are They S-Tier?
Kenji Hypercharge makes his dash lethal. High damage, great mobility
Mortis Even with the nerfed speed, he is still a beast in Brawl Ball. Tricky to master
Hank Tanky with a devastating bubble attack. Buffed health shines
Lumi A new support Brawler. Light traps control the battlefield.
Rico His bouncing shots shred enemies in tight maps. Hypercharge boosts range

A-Tier Characters – Strong and Reliable Picks

A-tier Brawlers are also excellent to pick if you intend to dominate in every mode. They specifically shine in certain modes or maps.

Experiment with these characters to understand what place they take in your personal Brawl Stars tier list:

  • Dynamike delivers explosive damage. He is great for zoning but struggles against tanks;
  • Byron with his healing and poison skills became a top support. But he needs team synergy;
  • Stu can boast fast attacks and mobility. However, any hypercharge buffs his dash;
  • Gray offers the stealth and teleportation skills that shine in the Gem Grab mode. His is quite squishy, though;
  • El Primo is a tanky brawler with buffed damage. He is weak to long-range foes;
  • Jae-Yong is a brand new assassin. The teleporting attacks are hard to dodge;
  • Carl equips a pickaxe boomerang to control lanes. He is great in the Heist mode;
  • Chester is a versatile jester with random abilities. Offers a high-skill cap.

B-Tier Characters – Situational Stars

Such brawlers are solid but need the right map, mode, or team to shine.

They won’t define meta but can perform well in skilled hands:

  • Bea is a sniper with strong burst damage. Struggles in open maps;
  • Fang is a melee fighter with a powerful kick. He is great in the Brawl Ball mode;
  • Bibi has bouncy attacks and knockback. Good for the map’s objective control;
  • Colt is a great long-range shooter. But he needs a precise aim to compete;
  • Jessie can turret zone enemies, but she’s squishy;
  • Nita is a tanky bear summon, but her damage is average;
  • Tara has a portal ultimate skill that sets up ambushes. Map-dependent;
  • Gene’s pull ability is clutch, but he’s fragile in most other cases.

C-Tier – Underperforming Heroes

C-tier Brawlers are not necessarily bad. They simply struggle in the current meta. These characters are not useless. But you will need a serious level of skill to perform well when playing them.

Such brawlers are better to be picked for experimenting by people with the gaming experience:

  • Doug’s healing hot dog skill is a niche pick. He has a weak damage output;
  • Charlie has good cocoon traps that are fun but easy to counter;
  • Eve’s water-based attacks lack punch. Buffs are needed when playing as Eve;
  • Moe with recent nerfs lacks viability. He is too situational;
  • Pam with her healing turret is decent, but her damage is low.

Tips for New Players – How to Thrive in Brawl Stars?

Jumping into Brawl Stars can feel overwhelming. With so many Brawlers and modes, where do you begin? Here are some tips to get you started:

  • Approach with Easy Brawlers. Choose straightforward Brawlers like Shelly, Colt, or Jessie. They are easy to play and introduce the basic game mechanics. The shotgun of Shelly is ideal for close combat, and the guns of Colt will help you in aiming practice;
  • Explore the Modes. Stick to Gem Grab and Brawl Ball in the beginning. They are simple and teach you to play in a team. In Gem Grab, score 10 gems and protect them for 15 seconds to win. In Brawl Ball, get two goals by kicking a ball into your enemy’s goal;
  • Improve Your Brawlers Wisely. With coins, you can upgrade the health, damage, and super of your Brawler. Focus on one Brawler to improve completely first before you move on to new ones. Don’t forget that you can buy power points on sale from the shop in the game;
  • Map Knowledge. Learn about the details of each map. Maps that are wide open like Sneaky Fields are better for snipers like Piper, whereas close maps like Backyard Bowl will be favorable for close combatants like El Primo. Use the bushes to conceal yourself from the enemy’s sight;
  • Synergy in the Team. Join with Brawlers that match a lot. A good example is that Byron’s health improvement fits the size of tanks such as Hank perfectly, while Tara’s portal for Gene’s pull is a very good idea for finishing off the opponents;
  • Recharge Your Power in the Right Moment. Keep your hypercharge to be used when the team needs it the most. Kenji’s hypercharge is good to eliminate the enemy in Gem Grab or Rico’s is perfect to secure a region in Heist.
