Golden Clover Easter Egg: Only One Is Actually Gold

Golden Clover Easter Egg: Only One of Them Is Actually Gold

Search this term and you get a mess. Slot-machine roguelites, a Club Penguin fan server, a Roblox wiki, a Stardew Valley item that turns out to live in a mod, and a dozen pages that have clearly never looked at any of it. Underneath that mess there is exactly one place where a literally golden clover easter egg was handed out as a reward for solving a hidden puzzle. It was a weapon charm in Rainbow Six Siege, it went to the people who got there first, and the hunt it belonged to took about a year to finish.

Everything else is a near match – and the near matches are more interesting than they sound, because three separate games independently arrived at almost the same idea: gather lucky objects, rig a gambling device, walk away with something gold.

So this is a sorting exercise rather than a list. Four ways a clover can be hidden in a game, plus one way a clover claim can be fake. Here is the shape of it first.

Game What the Clover Is How It’s Hidden What You Get
Rainbow Six Siege 30 four-leaf clovers on Emerald Plains Behind a destructible vent and across map geometry A golden clover weapon charm for the first finders
Control One four-leaf clover among six lucky objects Behind a Level 5 door and a six-part ritual A golden suit, two ability points, crafting materials
Deep Sleep: Labyrinth of the Forsaken A clover traded from a casino guest Behind a trade and a three-item combination A golden chip at the roulette table
One In A Thousand: Clover Book One four-leaf clover among thousands Inside the odds themselves The clover, pressed into a journal
CloverPit The Golden Clover charm Not hidden at all – it is on sale A 20% shot at the Golden Modifier

Work down that table and the categories sort themselves.

Category One: Hidden in the Geometry

This is the real one, and it is worth telling properly because the setup is unusually elaborate for a competitive shooter.

Emerald Plains arrived in Rainbow Six Siege on April 19, 2022, in the Y7S1.2 mid-season patch during Operation Demon Veil – still the only map the game has ever shipped mid-season. It is set in Northern Ireland, on a private ranch and country club, which is the detail that makes the rest of this make sense.

Inside the 2F Vault there is a secret drone vent. It does not open by hand. You need explosives to get into it, which already puts the find outside what a player stumbles across during a normal round.

Behind it sits a leprechaun statue holding a sign. The sign tells you to go and find thirty four-leaf clovers hidden around the map.

Ubisoft confirmed the hunt publicly on the day the map launched, posting that Emerald Plains hides many secrets – at least thirty, in fact – and asking whether anyone had found any of the fella’s clovers yet. Community searching has since accounted for all thirty, spread across various rooms.

And this is where the gold comes in. Ubisoft’s community account later stated that a golden clover charm was given to community members who were the first to find one of the thirty clovers, as part of the hunt that started with the map’s release. The same post noted the final clovers were only found roughly a year afterwards.

Golden Clover Easter Egg

A few things worth separating out, because this is the part other pages get wrong:

  • The ordinary Clover charm is a store item, sold for Renown or R6 Credits on the usual rotation, and it is not the same object.
  • The golden version was never purchasable and was not tied to an event pass or a battle pass tier.
  • The award went to first finders, not to everyone who eventually found a clover, which is why it reads as rare rather than merely old.
  • The number awarded has never been published, so anyone quoting a figure is guessing.
  • The detail comes from Ubisoft’s community account replying to players, not from a patch note, which is worth knowing when you see it cited as official documentation.

That is the genuine golden clover easter egg. A destructible vent, a statue, a sign, thirty hidden objects, a year of searching, and a charm you cannot buy.

Golden Clover Easter Egg Category Two: Hidden Behind a Ritual

Here is the coincidence that makes this topic genuinely interesting rather than merely trivial.

Two completely unrelated games – a 2019 third-person action game from a Finnish studio and a browser-born horror adventure from a solo developer – both built a secret in which you assemble lucky charms around a roulette wheel and win something gold.

Control puts its version in the Luck & Probability department of the Research sector, behind a Level 5 security door. The goal is to make the roulette ball land on seven, and you get there by arranging the room’s superstitions correctly.

The four-leaf clover is one piece of that. It starts in a white planter outside the experiment room, and it has to be moved into the white planter near the television. Then four lightbulbs on, horseshoe facing upward, the Maneki-Neko’s paw set moving, the elephant left exactly as you found it, and a bronze koi fish hauled in from near the office entrance with Jesse’s launch ability and parked within a couple of feet of the wheel. Spin from outside the red carpet, as the whiteboard tells you.

Get any of it wrong and the room tells you off – a fire extinguisher discharges, the sprinklers come on, or a phone starts ringing. Get it right and the ball lands on seven, and Jesse walks out with a golden suit, two ability points and crafting materials.

Deep Sleep: Labyrinth of the Forsaken does the same thing in miniature. Its clover lives in The Lucky Casino, held by a character called the Sad Guest, and you obtain it by trading him a bottle of whiskey. The clover alone does nothing. Its tooltip is almost a shrug – a four-leaf clover, some say it brings you luck. What it does is combine with a decorative horseshoe and a jade coin to win a golden chip at the roulette table.

Control Deep Sleep: Labyrinth of the Forsaken
Gate Level 5 clearance door A trade with the Sad Guest
Charms required Clover, horseshoe, lightbulbs, Maneki-Neko, elephant, koi fish Clover, decorative horseshoe, jade coin
Device being rigged Roulette wheel, target number 7 Roulette table
Failure feedback Sprinklers, extinguisher, ringing phone No win
Reward Golden suit, ability points, materials Golden chip

Same grammar, different scale. Collect superstitions, point them at a wheel, receive gold.

Category Three: Hidden in the Odds

The third category is the one that breaks the pattern, because the clover is not concealed in space at all. It is concealed in probability, which turns out to be a much harder hiding place.

One In A Thousand: Clover Book is an entire game about this. You are shown thousands of near-identical clovers and asked to find the single four-leaf one. Solo developer Matteo Silvestro built it, it sells on Steam for around two dollars, and the clover patterns are based on real plants he found in northern Italy.

The number is the interesting part. The game guarantees one four-leaf clover per 2,500, while the real-world rate sits closer to one in 5,000. Silvestro deliberately made it twice as generous as reality, because playtesters already found the easier version punishing. There is an optional hint system too – clicking shadows produces ladybugs whose redness indicates how close you are.

A cozy game that had to be made twice as lucky as the real world to stop being cruel is a good joke about this entire motif.

CloverPit approaches the same idea from the other direction, and this is where I have to correct the most common claim about this keyword. Panik Arcade’s slot-machine roguelite – released on Steam September 26, 2025, on Xbox that November as a Game Pass day-one title, and on mobile in December – does contain an item called the Golden Clover. It sold 100,000 copies in a day and passed a million inside two months, which is why it dominates search results for anything clover-shaped.

But the Golden Clover in CloverPit is not an easter egg. It is an Uncommon Lucky Charm from the base set, it costs three tickets, and it gives Clovers a twenty percent chance of carrying the Golden Modifier – which permanently raises a scored symbol’s value by its base value. That is a good item in a game with more than 150 of them. It is not hidden, not secret, and not a reward for solving anything.

Category Four: Hidden in Plain Sight

Worth a short section, because it is the oldest version of the idea and the easiest to overlook.

Super Lucky’s Tale, from Playful Studios in November 2017, makes clovers the currency of progress rather than a secret. Every level holds four: one for completing it, one for gathering 300 coins, one for finding the five letters that spell LUCKY, and one secret clover tucked into a hidden area or locked behind a short timed challenge.

That fourth clover is the ancestor of everything above. One per level, deliberately concealed, worth exactly as much as the three you earned openly. A game built on the premise that luck is something you go and look for.

Golden Clover Easter Egg Claims That Don’t Hold Up

Short list, because this keyword attracts a lot of confident nonsense and sorting it is half the value of the exercise.

  • Stardew Valley’s four-leaf clover is not in Stardew Valley. It is an item from Stardew Valley Expanded, a mod, and pages presenting it as a base-game secret have not checked.
  • CloverPit’s Golden Clover is a shop purchase, as covered above, and describing it as a hidden find is simply wrong.
  • The Rainbow Six store Clover charm is not the golden one, and screenshots of it get passed around as the rare reward constantly.
  • A chunk of search results are not video games at all – a Club Penguin fan server’s April event and assorted Roblox wiki entries both rank for this phrase.
  • Nobody has published how many golden clover charms exist, so any specific count you see is invented.

That last one matters most. Rarity claims are the easiest thing in the world to make up, and Ubisoft has said who received the charm without ever saying how many did.

Why the Same Idea Keeps Coming Back

There is a reason clovers appear in secrets more often than, say, horseshoes do on their own.

Luck is the one superstition that games can actually implement. A horseshoe over a door does nothing measurable in real life, but a game can genuinely increase a drop rate, weight a roulette outcome, or add twenty percent to a modifier chance. The clover is the most recognisable shorthand for that idea, which makes it the natural object to hide when a developer wants the act of finding something to feel like being lucky rather than being thorough.

And the three-step structure keeps recurring because it works:

  • Make the clover findable but not obvious, so discovery feels earned rather than handed over.
  • Make the reward cosmetic or gold-coloured, so it signals status without affecting balance.
  • Make the hunt social, since thirty objects across one map is a community problem rather than an individual one.

Rainbow Six Siege is the clearest case of all three at once. The clovers were findable, the reward was a charm nobody could buy, and it took the playerbase about a year working together to account for all thirty.

FAQ

Is there a real golden clover easter egg?

Yes, one. Rainbow Six Siege gave a golden clover weapon charm to community members who were first to find one of the thirty four-leaf clovers hidden on Emerald Plains.

Where do the Emerald Plains clovers come from?

A leprechaun statue hidden in a secret drone vent inside the 2F Vault, which only opens with explosives. The statue holds a sign setting the thirty-clover hunt.

When did that hunt start and finish?

It began with the map’s release on April 19, 2022, and the final clovers were found roughly a year later.

Can you still get the golden clover charm?

No. It was awarded to first finders rather than sold, and it has never returned to the store. The ordinary Clover charm that rotates through the shop is a different item.

What does the clover do in Control?

It is one of six lucky objects in the Luck & Probability easter egg. Moved into the correct planter alongside the other five set correctly, it helps land the roulette ball on seven, which rewards a golden suit, two ability points and crafting materials.

Is CloverPit’s Golden Clover a secret?

No. It is an Uncommon Lucky Charm in the base set costing three tickets, granting Clovers a twenty percent chance of the Golden Modifier.

Which game is hardest to find a clover in?

One In A Thousand: Clover Book, by design. It guarantees one four-leaf clover per 2,500, which is already twice as generous as the real-world rate of roughly one in 5,000.

One Charm, Four Imitations, No Shortcuts

What I like about this topic is how cleanly it splits once you stop treating the phrase as a single thing.

There is one golden clover worth the name, and it sits on somebody’s rifle in Rainbow Six Siege because they crawled into a vault vent in 2022 and then went looking across a country club in Northern Ireland. The rest are a roulette ritual in a brutalist office building, a whiskey trade in a dream casino, a two-dollar game about squinting at Italian lawn plants, and a slot-machine charm that costs three tickets.

They are all built on the same small insight. Finding something improbable feels better than finding something hidden, so if you want a discovery to land, make it look like luck.

If you are hunting one yourself, the practical order is simple. Emerald Plains if you own Siege and have explosives and patience. The Luck & Probability room if you own Control and have Level 5 clearance. Clover Book if you want to understand what one in 2,500 actually feels like.

And if a page tells you a golden clover is hidden in Stardew Valley, it is telling you about a mod it has not played.

If this spared you an afternoon of pages that mistake a store charm for a secret, pass it along on X, Reddit or whichever thread is already arguing about how many golden clovers exist – small writing teams travel by word of mouth and nothing else. Bookmark it as well, since clover hunts tend to surface again every spring and we revise this page rather than filing a fresh one each time one does. And if creative or commercial collaboration brought you here, write to the YaninaGames team directly – our odds are considerably better than one in 2,500.
